Valentine's Day Gift Idea for the Hubby

So this year for Valentine's Day, I got my gift ideas from Pinterest. I had been wanting to try the the whole writing with Sharpie on a mug and then bake it idea for a while so I knew this was the perfect opportunity. Then I found this lady who had dressed up boxes of cereal with paper and a cute phrase...So I combined these two ideas for the perfect gift!

Instead of using a mug for the Sharpie idea, I used a huge cereal bowl that I got at Tai Pan for $5! I decided to write a song on it that I love, it's A Thousand Years by Christina Perri. The reason I love this song is because in it she says "I have loved you for a thousand years, I love you for a thousand more" and I believe this is true because we chose our families in the pre-existence and we have the chance to be with them for all eternity (a thousand more)! Ah gives me chills.

It was a little tricky writing on the bowl and trying to make it perfect but I think it turned out pretty cute...
I baked it at 350 degrees for 30 minutes and then took it out. It was still smearing a little (I think because it was super glossy?) so I looked up some other tutorials and found that if you let it cool in the oven instead of taking it out after 30 min, then it wouldn't smear.

For the cereal boxes, I used Lucky Charms, LIFE, and Honey Bunches of Oat. Here's how they turned out:
"LIFE is sweeter with you" "You are my Lucky Charm" "You have nice Honey Buns"

I was very happy with how everything turned out. :)

As for Valentine's decorations, I didn't go super all out this year, just kind of worked with what I had.

Sorry the lighting sucks in all of them and I'm not good at taking pictures...

Now for some super cute pictures of Reggie and Rosie! They take the cutest naps! The first two are Reg and the last one is Rose

Merry Christmas Banner

So the other day I was at Pebbles in my Pocket and I saw this cute banner that the owner had made... (sorry it got cut off)

I thought it would be fun and easy to make so here's how...

First, take three pieces of brown scrapbook paper and cut them into sixths. So now you have 18 (6in. tall x 4in. wide) rectangles. You only need 15 so discard three of them.

Second, take 15 white doily's (they are 10 cents a piece at Pebbles) and mod podge them onto the rectangles covering some of the top and leaving space on the bottom like this...

While those dry, start cutting out your Merry Christmas letters in red paper. I just used my cricut :)

Then you mod podge the letters onto the doily's like this...

There are only 14 letters so for the 15 one you can do whatever cute design your heart desires! I did a green snowflake.

After all the letters are glued on, snip a little triangle out from the bottom of all the brown rectangles like this...

Then you just punch holes in the top two corners, string 'em, and hang them up!

Whimsical Trees

So a while ago I was on Pinterest and saw this picture...

And I was like, "OMG I have to make those!" And so I did :)

Step 1
Buy a piece of plywood and have your father come over with his saw and cut out the triangles and stars.

Step 2
Sand them and then put white primer on. Make sure to do the sides too.

Step 3
Paint the stars a fun red! I did two coats because it looked better.

Step 4
Tape off the triangles in criss-crosses and paint a cute green. I left about four inches of the top not painted (so it had just primer on it) to help the wood glue stick better.

Step 5
Let paint dry and carefully peel off tape. Apply wood glue liberally to the "naked" tip of the triangle. Stick a star on and let dry. Now you have a freaking cute whimsical tree!

Happenings in October

October was such a fun month for us! Halloween is my husbands favorite holiday so this year we decided to invite some friends and have a party! It was so much fun! Drew dressed up as a box of soap and I was a loofah.

I bought cute collars for Reggie and Rosie so they could dress up too! Aren't they adorable?!

I took some pics of our house and some Halloween decorations I did, I thought it turned out pretty good! I am just obsessed with decorating! I wish I could do it all day every day! I love it so much!

Of course I had to make a few flag banners ;)

My older sister Jen, her husband Mike, and my two nieces came over for a Sunday dinner too. Jen sent me this picture of my nieces on Halloween. Don't they look so cute? I love them! Lexi was a cupcake and Mylie was Belle.

Thanks for reading!
xoxo, court

PS: Britt came to Sunday dinner too!

We Moved!!!

So we finally left our cute little apartment! My mother-in-law moved to North Ogden and we are going to house-sit while Drew finishes up school. It has been a huge blessing in many ways. We love being able to finally live with Reggie and Rosie and obviously having a ton of space! We love the ward, we got called to teach Sunday School to the 13-14 year olds. We absolutely love them! I start to cry just thinking that we only teach them for a few more months before the classes switch. Living in a big family ward is definitely better than the small college ward we were in before. It's funny because I actually feel more comfortable with the young women in the ward than with the older ladies. I've made church-friends with a few of the girls, we always talk about Pretty Little Liars and Honey Boo-Boo and shopping. They make me feel young even though I'm still only 20 haha. Anyway I thought I would post some pics of our old apartment for those of you who never got to see!

Kitchen/Dining Room

Living Room

Bathroom

Bedroom

It wasn't the most posh apartment but it was our first place and it will always have a special place in my heart. I had so much fun decorating it and making it our own.

Now we have this huge house and I have just been going crazy trying to decorate it! We are having so much fun! I will post pics as soon as I'm ready I promise! Thanks for reading! :)

Fourth of July Crafts

Wow...I haven't blogged in forever. Ok so I love making crafts and I wanted to share some of the things I made for the Fourth of July party that we went to.

These paper accordion flowers were my favorite thing that I made! I made about 25 of them and it took me like 8 hours but it was totally worth it! I watched a YouTube tutorial on how to make the flowers and it was super helpful. I used Snapple jars for the glasses, I had been drinking and saving them since April. I got the cute straws from Party Land!

I kind of have an obsession with flag banners so of course I made one! It looked way cute on the railing!

So I accidentally forget to bring the Star Sticks (see previous post) so I had to make these in a hurry, they are crappy looking but I love my little flag banner on the metal bucket!
